Global Expansion: From China Manufacturing to Global Collaboration

Commercial ice machines prepared for global export

China has become one of the world’s leading ice maker suppliers, with 36,800 ice-making enterprises operating domestically and a significant rise in new registrations in 2024. Within the China–ASEAN trade framework, and helped by relatively open policies under RCEP, a complementary model has emerged: China supplies complete units while ASEAN provides raw materials.

In 2024, China’s white-goods exports to ASEAN reached USD 14.87 billion, up nearly 20% year on year. Thailand, Malaysia and others saw demand for commercial ice equipment surge as catering and tourism recovered. With local appliance supply chains still developing, ASEAN remains highly reliant on imported core components, creating a stable overseas growth market. North America and Europe hold roughly 63% of the global market, signaling that Chinese ice-maker exports are entering a period of structural growth.

Environmentally friendly equipment is gaining share, with some energy-saving modules cutting consumption 18–25% versus earlier models. As global procurement networks grow and after-sales expectations rise, price competition alone no longer suffices. International catering chains and retail channels increasingly expect remote diagnostics, real-time maintenance and data-driven collaboration; delivery speed, scalability and service assurance are now key criteria for leading OEMs to enter a supplier list.

From AI-driven remote O&M, to a new R&D race spurred by low-carbon refrigerants, to the growth opportunity in household applications, the global and Chinese ice-maker industries stand at the front of a structural upgrade. The value chain is evolving from single-point equipment sales toward a systematic advantage spanning energy-efficient design, digital services and agile global delivery. As the market shifts from scale to value, those who first capture the dividends of intelligence, sustainability and compliance will hold the more resilient position in the industry reshuffle around 2030.
